Technical Courthouse

Technology Uses At My Internship:

The court video conferences with inmates up at the county during a selected court session. The video conference lets the defendant discuss court dates (upcoming), how much longer they have to stay in jail, and to talk to their public defender.

ACS program on the computer is for inputting criminal defendants’ summons numbers to see when their next court date is, what court room they go to , and if it is a conference or trial. There are also cases that have been disposed. There is also the ATS program (traffic defendants).

CCHs are forms I fill out to get the defendants’ criminal background, if any. I give the CCH forms to our detective and he goes on the computer to search the defendant in the database and prints out the criminal background (consists of previous crimes committed, tickets, mugshot, etc.)

I help the prosecutor copy documents for the public defender’s file, discovery for defendants, and other documents–discovery, incident reports, complaints, CCH forms (prosecutor keeps copied version in their file).

At the prosecutor’s office, the phone is ringing non-stop. I answer and it is either an attorney or defendant calling. The prosecutor’s office does not have the authority to change a court date, so I transfer the defendants to their proper courtroom’s number. I contact attorneys for their client’s complaint number or other necessities pertaining to their case.
